Henna Again

I got to do a decent amount of henna while visiting my family in Kansas, which was loads of fun. I never did convince anyone else to get a full henna done, but I did my own hand a few times. Most of the people I was around hadn't dealt with henna before, but it was fun anyway.

Here is one of my leg and foot. I did the foot off a design I had seen, and the leg was freehand. I wasn't as happy with how the tiny leaves turned out, they ended up looking more like thorns than anything else.

This one I was just goofing around with. The cute little froggie was from a slightly different design, and the wrist band was from something else as well, and the flowers and fingers were freehand. I'd have done more but my mix was really thick and sort of tiring after a while. I really need to work on that....

This one is still one of my favorite designs, and the second time I've done it. I like how this one turned out a little better. More even, and the floral area looked better.

I also did these two for my cousin, which I thought turned out cute.

I'll be getting more of the Kansas pictures up soon, I hope. I still have a lot of unpacking to do and kids to settle down again... It's crazy around here some days :D

More Henna

Here is my first design that I made up myself. I experimented with shading this time, although I've probably got the technique wrong.

I'm liking how this one turned out, although I think another spot or two could use some shading too. I just haven't decided yet.

More Fun With Henna

Here are a few more I've been working on. The first one here I did this morning, based off of an image from this site that I found on the web. If you scroll down through all the lovely artwork you'll see the same design, though I'm sure much prettier than mine.

So here is the first picture of my hand:

And here is a more elaborate picture I did for a friend. She saw mine and wanted me to go to town on her (she gave me free reign, I'm not sure why ;) ). So I just ended up doing basically what I had done this morning, with some direction from her, and I really liked how it turned out. I forgot the little dots up the vine on the finger, but it still looks pretty cool.

And last but not least, the one I did on my own chest (which was oh so fun), and gravity ended up working against me after a little while. But it still looks alright.

All in all, not too bad for a day's work ;)

Fun With Henna

I have been experimenting a bit with henna lately. I started with a little kit, and that went well enough, but then I got into mixing my own. It seemed to work a little better, though the stain isn't quite as strong I don't think. I'll find out after tonight anyway.

So here is my first attempt at my own mix of henna paste, which involved the henna powder, lemon juice, honey and tea tree oil.

By the way, these are pictures of the applied henna while it's drying. I'll try to get the pictures tomorrow after I take the henna paste off, which will leave a lovely little pattern for about 2 weeks.

Toes

Right Foot

Left Foot (not as good as the other side, and somehow I managed to smudge one of the leaves)

And I just liked the way this shot turned out. I am definitely loving my new camera!
